Hi Guys,

We were able to get the UNLV website backup.

For those of you who are interested in what happened; it appears that our database server was unable to process requests and a large amount of un-terminated connection threads remained opened and remained in a waiting state. At first, it had symptoms of a DDOS attack but all the connections were coming from within our network and they were not coming in as unusually large volumes. That said, the open connections were taxing resources and taking up all available connections on our server and caused database communication with our apache server to fail.

After we closed off access to our db server, we noticed that the database itself had signs of corruption as Drupal was not rendering data from many of our content types properly and exhibited other odd issues.

I am going through apache logs, drupal logs, and working with our system administrator to see exactly what happened.

For those who offered assistance during this time, we would like to extend our thanks.

Similar to Russ' usability subgroup would anyone have interest in forming a video subgroup? I'm interested in what people are doing for online streaming, video distribution, etc on campus. Online Education is thinking about setting up a streaming server and video platform (Kaltura or something else) as we have 1TB of videos currently being streamed for instructors. If you'd like to discuss please leave a comment, share with others, etc. I'd like to get together during the first week of May.

Does anyone do any automated Advantage uploading/downloading and have a use for a .NET library I created to do so?

Or, does anyone want to get into automating Advantage file interactions using .NET?

If so, I'll post my library (.NET 4.0 DLL) and user's guide.
